hello!
Leaving Trondheim, we have again a good wind to sail out of this boring fjord, so called by Kai, the boat builder who probably rawed a lot in this area, we cross it really fast, in the both ways, but the next morning, we wake up early to use the stream, and the wind disapears during the afternoon between the island of Hitra and the continent.
The next day, no wind, so we rawed and then our biggest ennemy, the south wind rise and seems to be in a very good shape. He blows all the day, and after a few taking totally unusefull, we rawed to reach the coast, against strong wind and with waves on the side.
Next day, the same conditions, also sailing a little bit and we drop at the next arbour, near a very big petrol raffinery. Beurk.
With difficulties we keep our swords in the scabbards and begin to plunder the supermarket.
After the plunder (they plunder us), our purses are totally empty and we are still away from Kristianssund, the ferry is too expensive and leaving the boat alone is not a good idea... 5 minutes later we are running to catch the ferry, 400 kr, enough to eat for one week... and we are heading to Kristiansund at the average speed of 35 knop! with fenrir we did more than7 but only in the saltstaumen, one of the strongest stream in the world. in the town, we have a little walk, finding an irish pub where we played in the evening during the break of the rock band playing. this gave us a little bit of money to recover the pricee of the ferry, we slept under a terasse and we awake the saturday with good sun and north wind.
But the street is not free today, our biggest concurrent, the brass band is playing and we can't manage to fight them, they are to noisy.
we listen to some one's advice take a bus and go to a big supermarket, where we got wipe out by the owner...
Bus back to town, little play, bus, ferry, bus, ferry and a french camping car who drove us to our boat.
It was only the end of the afternoon so we packed the ship and sail for some hours to Edøy a nice island with a church on a little hill and a place eto sleep inside.
We heard that the good time to leave was 2 in the afternoon cause of the stream, so we got itme to play for the ferry and have a free meal from the bar tenders, a retired couple, very nice poepple, she called the news paper, but had to write the text her self. just before leaving, the old man took my arm, shut his eyes and say after a while that we will end the trip safe but with some change on our plans. He his a kinfd of medium, known in the islands around and his brother is a "hand doctor".
the following days , good wind , sun and good place to stay in little harbours, shower, kitchen...
and we went to Ragnar Thorseth's island, a very nice place to stay, where he keep the copy of his Saga Siglar, a viking knarr who sailed the world around, and to sunk in front of spain in an unsuspected storm in 1992. Ragnar himself was not here but we spoke with his son and with some of the peopple working there, got a few old maps to reach Ålesund.
Now we are in Ålesund witch is a nice little town built in "art nouveau" after a big burn in the end of the 1800.
we play to times a day for the outgoing passeng3ers of the " coastal express" a floating palace going the norvegian coast up and down.
we 'll try to have a little concert in a pub and play saturday morning in the streets before going to the island of Giske, out side the town where ther is a viking festival.
Keep giving news from you, it's good for us to read about the peopple we met earlier in our trip.
julien and Francois
