After five LOOOOONg days of storm , we took the first oportunnity to cross, strong wind still but at least, not too much waves, we took a reef in the sail and went for that crossing.
Not so easy, the wind disapears! after a few miules and we ended up rowing as usual, for a 23 long miles in a very big swell, nearly 6 meters...
some crosseed waves too shaking the poor captain's stomach, i drop my breakfast along the way... good for the fish!
we reached Rathlin island with strong stream and big waves breaking around us, looking from their hights to us and making scarry roars.
After the island, the sea calm down and gives us a little stream (against us of courswe) and two hours later we were in the harbour.
Flo was waiting for us. we had a late fish and chips in the fair and went to bed.
My new crew Florence and me went for a try in the sunny sunday afternoon, the next harbour was 27 miles away of a very streamy sea, but good little wind , we started rowing to reach the Fairhead point, helped by some stream, but after one hour, when we reached the point, the wind falls down! bad luck cause going back to the harbour took us 3and a half hour against a very strong stream, sometimes making us just able to keep Fenrir still...
back to the harbour we met Conor and is familly, he took out his boat and let us use is personnal berth for fenrir, making the stay cheap enough for us, thank you very much Conor!
The lammas fair is a very big gathering of crowed, but things that you can buy are not very intersting for us, just the horses, donkeys and other animals are the soul and roots to the fair.
We played for the street intertainement contest the two days of the fair not making as much money as expected but enough to buy our food.
we spent the two evening playing music and session in pubs with some irish peopple intersted in re enactment, from the saxons, to the vikings and a scotish man, playing fiddles and bodhran.
on thirsday, we wass driwen by the the two musicians to Coleraine, the best place for hitchhikers, Francois, Florence and me. thats was the last spot of francois for me after more than 4 month of cohabitation...
